Copyright Policy

This explains copyright protection and use of materials provided on the Gwangju City Library (the "Library") website. The Library complies with the Copyright Act and the Guidelines on the Management and Use of Public Works.

1. Copyright of Website Materials

All materials (text, images, videos, software, etc.) on the Library website are works protected by the Copyright Act; unless otherwise indicated, copyright belongs to Gwangju City Library.

  • Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, transmission, exhibition, performance, broadcast, or creation of derivative works of website materials is prohibited.
  • Among posted materials, those whose copyright belongs to third parties (publishers, authors, etc.) may not be used without the right holder's permission.
  • Book covers and bibliographic information follow the copyright policy of the respective publisher and provider.
  • Copyright of postings by users belongs to the poster, who is responsible for not infringing others' copyright.

2. KOGL (Public Work Free-Use License) Guide

Public works for which the Library holds all economic copyrights are opened with the KOGL (Korea Open Government License) mark under the guidelines, and users may freely use them under the conditions of that type without separate permission.

Type Conditions Permitted scope

Type 2 Attribution + no commercial use Non-commercial use only; derivative works allowed
Type 3 Attribution + no modification Commercial use allowed; derivative works not allowed
Type 4 Attribution + no commercial use + no modification Non-commercial use only; derivative works not allowed
How to Attribute

When using KOGL works, attribute the source as: "This work uses a work created by Gwangju City Library and opened under KOGL Type ○."

Materials without the KOGL mark

Materials without the KOGL mark are not for free use; if you wish to use them, please contact the Library (031-760-5000) in advance.

3. Notes When Using Materials

  • Even for KOGL works, you may not alter the source or use them in ways that infringe third-party rights (portrait rights, personal information, etc.).
  • The Library's logo/symbols (CI/BI) are not subject to KOGL; unauthorized use may be sanctioned under the Trademark Act and related laws.
  • E-library content such as e-books and audiobooks is serviced under contracts with copyright holders; reproduction/distribution beyond personal use is prohibited.
  • When quoting materials, quote within a justifiable scope in conformity with fair practice under Article 28 (Quotation of Published Works) of the Copyright Act.

4. Copyright Infringement Report

If a website material infringes another's copyright, or if you find unauthorized use of the Library's works, please report it below. We will verify and act promptly.
